National Geographic To Make Video Games

Some two years ago, we had reported that National Geographic Ventures and Destination Software Incorporated had entered into an agreement to make games on the latter’s films. Now it has emerged National Geographic Games has been formed to by the society to not only develop but also publish educational games that have ecological core themes.

The NGG would be headed by Paul Levine. He commented, “By leveraging National Geographic’s leading family brand, core themes and franchises, and its unique content that drives our mission-forward strategy, NGG will create fun games that allow gamers of all ages to experience and explore their world through play.”

Herod’s Lost Tomb will be the first title from National Geographic Games. It will be produced in-house and will feature content from the December issue of the magazine. What’s more, they are partnering with Sony Computer Entertainment as well as Namco Bandai for publishing and distributing games.
