Mortal Kombat Headed for PS Vita

MK on the Vita will come equipped with new gameplay features and content that will take advantage of the various technologies offered by the handheld. It is still unclear as to whether the game is still in development or is just awaiting its release window. A box shot of this title has been released by the publisher, which seems to be revealing that the character roster will indeed be the same as the original game launched for consoles last year. And yes, Kratos will also be available as a playable fighter in this game.

“The NetherRealm team is committed to making sure that we follow up the success of 2011’s Mortal Kombat with an equally compelling experience on the PlayStation Vita. The original game content and new features we developed for the PlayStation Vita will provide gamers with the best fighting game experience available on the new mobile platform,” commented, Ed Boon, Creative Director, NetherRealm Studios.

This reboot for the extremely popular franchise was released for the PS3 and Xbox 360 in April, 2011. And if its publisher is to be believed, the games sold more than three million units worldwide last year, supposedly becoming the highest-selling fighting game of the year.

More details about the PS Vita version of Mortal Kombat are expected to be revealed in the coming months before it launches in the spring of 2012.
