The recent success of the Max Payne movie at the box office proves that films based on video games franchises draw in crowds despite poor reviews from the critics. Many big gaming publishers are selling rights of their IPs to Hollywood studios and Electronic Arts is one of them, who had signed up a Hollywood talent agency back in July.
One game that they were keen to bring on the big screen was the shooter Army of Two. Now Variety is reporting that the screen rights of Army of Two have been acquired by Universal Pictures. The project is expected to begin production next year. The script of the Army of Two movie will be written by Scott Z. Burns, who has previously worked on The Bourne Ultimatum.
What is interesting is that Scott Stuber will produce the Army of Two movie with Electronic Arts. There is no information as to who will direct or play the lead in the film based on Army of Two.
