Greenberg’s take on new Elite pricing and Hulu on Xbox 360

A few days back the Xbox 360 Elite was in the news for dropping its price by 100 USD making it now available for just around 300 USD (approx. Rs.14,640). It was also reported that Microsoft’s price cut plans were unrelated to Sony’s drop in price. Now in an interview with Joystiq, Aaron Greenberg from Xbox sheds more light on the 300 USD Elite console as well as Hulu on Xbox 360.

Xbox 360 Console

According to Greenberg, plans to reduce the price of the Xbox Elite were already chalked out many months back and that it was just a coincidently clashed with the Sony console price drop. He also adds that the price drop took effect as of Friday 28. He stated that the price of the Xbox 360 Pro or Premium 60 gig SKU has fallen to 249 USD (approx. Rs.12,150) and will be sold till stocks last while the price of the white Arcade SKU and the 120 gig Elite black console are 199 USD (approx Rs.9,710) and 299 USD (approx. Rs.14,590) respectively.

He also stressed upon the fact that the 99 USD Wi-Fi adapter will not drop its price. It has also not been included with the new Elite SKU and will be sold separately as always. As far as Netflix goes, the relationship shared between the companies is still going strong.

However Greenberg is quoted saying Hulu, Amazon Unbox and other such video services coming on the Xbox 360 was like “asking out a really hot chick on a date, they don’t all say yes.” He stated that each company has their own complicated story where some have given the green signal while others need a little more persuasion. Both Hulu and Amazon Unbox are only offered to users residing in the United States.
