Free-to-Play City of Heroes: Freedom Goes Live

NCsoft and Paragon Studios announced recently the launch of City of Heroes: Freedom which is basically a free-to-play model of the popular MMO title. This release coincides with the introduction of a new update named Issue 21: Convergence for the game. A new zone, Incarnate Trial, powers, costumes and more such rewards are supposed to be a part of this update.

Moreover, Issue 21: Convergence will also add to the title, new monthly Signature Story Arcs and the Paragon Rewards Program. The latest zone to be introduced to this game is called First Ward and is characterized by Praetoria’s most elite forces and sinister weapons. Fresh challenges like the Underground Incarnate Trial and Avatar of Hamidon would also be added to the game.

Brian Clayton, Executive Producer at Paragon Studios, revealed, “Our fans have come to expect great content and with City of Heroes Freedom we’ve clearly raised the bar by delivering the best gameplay we’ve ever developed, and giving players the choice to truly customize their gaming experience. We aren’t just flipping a switch and going ‘Free-to-Play.’ We’re embarking on the biggest content and feature update to City of Heroes in its seven-year history.”

Moreover, new Power Sets and Costumes would also be making their way into the title, some of which will be free to VIP members. A debut mission named Signature Story Arcs shall be made available for free to the VIP members and will require them to fight alongside iconic heroes and villains in order to discover which of Paragon City’s premier heroes will die.
