Nintendo Crimson DS Lite, Brain Age Bundle announced for US and Canada

Crimson DS Lite Brain Age Bundle

A while ago, we had reported about Nintendo’s Onyx and Coral Pink DS Lite. Then came in the cool ‘Ice Blue’ one’s and the bright Yellow DS Lite.

Now, Nintendo has officially announced that US and Canada will be getting an all-new DS Lite come August 21, 2007. The only thing different about the new DS Lite is its color scheme and the fact that it will come bundled with the ‘Brain Age 2’ game.

The new DS Lite will sport a classy red and black look. The top half of the new Nintendo DS sports a smooth, glossy Crimson shade. It kind of reminds one of a shiny cherry-red sports car or even a racy shade of lipstick for that matter!

The bottom half of the new DS Lite is matte Onyx black. In the words of Nintendo, “An Onyx Yin that complements the Crimson Yang.”

And, if you aren’t stylish at heart, then the Crimson Red and Black DS Lite bundle also includes the Brain Age 2: More Training in Minutes a Day game.

Brain Age 2: More Training in Minutes a Day Game is actually the sequel to the well-received original that saw seniors as well as your regular baby boomers hooked on to it.

The Brain Age franchise seeks inspiration by the work of well-known Japanese neuroscientist Dr.Ryuta Kawashima. It is packed with activities that will add a new rush to your brain and give it the workout it needs like solving simple math problems, counting people going in and out of a house concurrently, drawing pictures on the Nintendo DS touch screen, and reading classic literature out loud.

The first time you play Brain Age, you will have to take a series of tests and get a score that determines your DS brain age. Brain Age tracks your progression with easy-to-read line charts so you always know how well you’re doing. By using Brain Age just minutes a day, the better you’ll get at the exercises and the lower your DS Brain Age will become.

It is interesting to know that the original Brain Age: Train your Brain in Minutes A Day sold 8.61 million worldwide, while the sequel called Brain Age: More Training Minutes A Day sold 5.33 million in Japan alone.

Looks like August 21, is going to one colorful day. The special crimson and black Nintendo DS Lite will sell for a price of $149.99.
