Platinum Silver Nintendo DS Lite to hit European Market

The Nintendo DS Lite has gone platinum and by that we mean that this portable gaming device is now available in a rich shade of silver in Europe. The new silver DS Lite will be joining the already popular black, blue, white and pink versions that have caught the attention of many.

The new Silver DS Lite will be offered to the European market from October 12, 2007 onwards. It will cost £99, which works out to approximately $200.

Interestingly, till date, Nintendo has managed to sell over 14 million DS Lite units in the European market.

Besides, Nintendo has said that strong sales of the hardware are continuing alongside growing sales performance from recently launched game titles such as Pokemon Diamond and Pokemon Pearl. Together, these two games have sold 1.6 million copies in just seven weeks since their European launch.

Then, there was the ‘More Brain Training from Dr. Kawashima: How Old is Your Brain’ DS game title, which sold 9,15,000 copies in 11 weeks since its launch in Europe.

Only recently, Nintendo had announced the crimson DS bundle which included the Brain Age 2 game. This bundle was introduced exclusively in the North American market.

Nintendo hopes to continue at the same momentum with regards to the DS by offering new game titles such as ‘The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass’. This game is to launch across Europe on October 19, 2007.
