A statement issued by Ubisoft to Videogamer, the publisher has confirmed the delay without mentioning any concrete reason for the same. It has however been mentioned that the developer is ‘happy that fans are excited’ about the title, and is hence utilizing the extra time to ensure that it delivers a game which ‘lives up to and hopefully exceeds their expectations.’

This game first came into view when an in-house demonstrative video was leaked out, forcing Ubisoft to confirm its existence. But it was at this year’s E3 that the game made its official debut as a Wii U exclusive. However, its release on other platforms in the future cannot be ruled out.

The last game in the series came in the form of the immensely appreciated Rayman Origins which was first release for the PS3, Xbox 360 and Wii in November 2011. In February this year, it was ported to the PS Vita, while the next month saw the title making its way to PC. And it was only in June this year that the game also made its way to the 3DS in regions other than North America.
