The Last Of Us 2 Now Seems To Be Gearing Up For A PC Release

The Last Of Us 2

Sony’s new strategy of growing its key IPs by releasing PC versions of popular games is apparently set to espouse The Last of Us 2 now. In fact, a new report even goes on to suggest that the PC port is ready to ship, but is being held back due to a marketing choice.

Reliable leakster Billbil-kun of Dealabs has claimed that Naughty Dog had completed the development of a PC version of The Last of Us 2 in November last year. But the delay in its announcement comes due to the decision to tie its release in with the second season of HBO’s The Last of Us TV show.

This essentially means PC gamers have a long wait ahead of them before they get to jump into the post-apocalyptic survival mayhem of the second game. That’s mainly because filming for the second season of The Last of Us TV show isn’t expected to wrap until August of this year.

As for its release, HBO has already made it clear that it won’t arrive until 2025. Anyway, this marketing choice seems to make good sense, given how the second season of the TV show will cover parts of the second game’s story, which should definitely boost its sales among PC players.

During the early stages of developing the HBO TV show, its makers took the unique decision of retelling the same story portrayed in the first video game. Despite the bold choice, season one of The Last of Us received immense acclaim and won several big awards after debuting in February last year.

It’s worth noting that PC players already have access to the first Last of Us game via Steam and the Epic Games Store.
