Divinity: Original Sin Unveiled for PC and Mac

Indie developer Larian Studios has gone on to reveal a new RPG named Divinity: Original Sin which is set to release for PC and Mac in 2013. This Belgian developer is best known to have built a number of games under the Divinity series it created.

The new game set in the Divinity universe has its story revolving around two unlikely heroes, one of them being a condemned warrior released from his chains and the other one, a mystic heroine restored to life. In terms of setting, Divinity: Original Sin will act as a prequel to Divine Divinity, the first game in the series which was released way back in 2002 for PC.

Since gamers will be able to play as only two characters, the title won’t be seen featuring any character classes. And both are designed to be controlled cooperatively. Players will even be able to summon and recruit other characters and creatures. Moreover, a large and explorable world filled with quests, special moments and memorable characters is also claimed to form a part of the game.

The story has been confirmed to embrace a consequence system which will impact the final outcome on the basis of the decisions made during gameplay. A turn-based combat system, exploitable environments as well as online integrations will make their way into the title. The co-op mechanics of the game even comprise a cooperative dialogue system which allows two players to take different decisions.

Divinity: Original Sin will be playable at next week’s E3, but it will hit retail only next year for PC and Mac.
