Cyberpunk will be CD Projekt RED’s New RPG

Developer CD Projekt RED, best known to have crafted The Witcher games, has announced a new AAA RPG which carries the moniker, Cyberpunk. Eurogamer has excerpts from this interaction which also revealed that the game will be based on a classic pen and paper RPG series from the 1980s that was created by Mike Pondsmith. This will be the first title from the Polish RPG-maker to feature different character classes. The studio is said to have given assurances that the new game will be a ‘mature RPG for a mature audience,’ and that it will have a non-linear story as well as ‘advanced RPG mechanics.’

“For over two decades, I’ve been proud to say that Cyberpunk’s been the gold standard of what it means to be a true cyberpunk game. And it’s been a huge success for me and our many fans, with over 5 million players worldwide. But over all that time we haven’t found the right team to bring our cyberpunk world to full digital life – until now,” stated Mike Pondsmith, the author for the original Cyberpunk pen and paper game.

Details relating to the title are extremely slim right now, and so is the information on whether it will launch on usual platforms or on next-gen ones. CD Projekt RED’s latest outing came in the form of its Xbox 360 port of The Witcher 2: The Assassin’s of Kings which managed to grab an Overall rating of 9/10 in our review of it.

We’ll be keeping fans posted with all the latest information about Cyberpunk as and when it releases.
